Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar to release worldwide on January 14 as a Pongal festive entertainer. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and produced by Studio Green, the film features Krithi Shetty’s Tamil debut and an ensemble cast.

Tamil cinema fans have a major festive treat to look forward to as the makers of director Nalan Kumarasamy’s much-anticipated film Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi in the lead role, have officially announced its worldwide theatrical release on January 14. The announcement was made on Monday by the film’s producers, Studio Green, generating excitement among audiences and industry watchers alike.

Originally planned for a December release, Vaa Vaathiyaar faced unexpected delays due to unavoidable circumstances. Addressing the change in schedule, Studio Green released an official statement explaining the situation and confirming the new release date. The production house stated that the Pongal festival period was a fitting time to bring the film to audiences, as the festive season symbolizes unity, happiness, and celebration—values that align well with the spirit of the film.

The producers emphasized that the decision to release the film during Pongal was made with audiences in mind, as the festival traditionally marks one of the most significant box office windows in South Indian cinema. Pongal releases are often associated with family-oriented entertainers and large-scale commercial films, making Vaa Vaathiyaar a strategic and celebratory choice for the season.

In a gracious gesture, Studio Green also extended warm wishes to other films scheduled for release during the same period. The statement expressed hope that every film finds its audience and that the industry continues to grow stronger through collective success. This message reflects a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect within the film fraternity during a competitive release window.

The production house concluded its announcement by expressing heartfelt gratitude to fans, exhibitors, distributors, theatre owners, channel partners, media collaborators, technicians, artists, and crew members. Studio Green acknowledged the trust, patience, and encouragement shown by all stakeholders throughout the film’s journey. Ending the message on a celebratory note, the statement declared, “Let’s celebrate Vaa Vaathiyaar. Vaathiyaar Vanduttaar!”

Adding to the film’s readiness for release, Vaa Vaathiyaar has already been cleared by the censor board and awarded a U/A certificate, indicating that it is suitable for a wide audience with parental guidance for younger viewers. The certification further strengthens its position as a mass entertainer aimed at families and festive crowds.

The film features Krithi Shetty as the female lead opposite Karthi. Notably, Vaa Vaathiyaar marks Krithi Shetty’s debut in Tamil cinema, making her role one of the most closely watched aspects of the film. She plays a unique character described as a Gypsy spirit reader, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative.

Apart from Karthi and Krithi Shetty, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G. M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, P. L. Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan, and Madhur Mittal. The diverse cast suggests a story rich in character dynamics and emotional depth.

In an interesting character detail, Karthi portrays a police officer, with actor Karunakaran playing his subordinate. The film also highlights a nostalgic and cultural angle, as Karthi’s character is depicted as a devoted fan of legendary actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran (MGR). This aspect is expected to resonate strongly with Tamil audiences who continue to admire MGR’s legacy.

With its festive release date, star power, unique characters, and experienced creative team, Vaa Vaathiyaar is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the Pongal season. As January 14 approaches, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be a commercial entertainer blending action, emotion, tradition, and celebration.
