Divyangjans have an equal role as normal people like us in building a strong nation. The development of the country cannot be complete without them. This was realized by Prime Minister of our country for the first time. Divyangjans are an important part of the society. No society can develop properly if they are neglected. Therefore, he has announced several schemes for their development and is also implementing them. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik said these as the chief guest at the distribution programme for divyangjans of the social empowerment camp organized by West District Social Welfare and Social Education Office and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation.
On the occasion, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said moving equipments were distributed among 689 Divyangjans of West District in the Social Empowerment Camp there. There is a special joy in being able to do something for them by distributing these materials. She said that our government is thinking more advanced ideas on how to make the living standards of Divyangjans easier and simpler and implementing them. The government has also provided training in various schemes for the development of Divyangjans and development of their talent. For their convenience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also ordered provision of ramps and lifts in government offices in all the states of the country. It has already been implemented in all the states of the country including our state. Divyangjans across the country have also arranged their unique certificates so that they can enjoy special benefits. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment also said that our government is thinking of the elderly people and retired people of the society and is also encouraging them to form self-help groups. One-time financial assistance of up to 50 thousand rupees is also being given to them so that they can earn.
Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Sarkar spoke as special guest on the occasion and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar spoke as the guest of honour on the occasion. Deputy Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Department John Kelvin Debbarma and Senior Deputy Collector Kirit Mohan Sarkar also spoke on the occasion. Officer of Social Welfare and Social Education Department Dr. Chandrani Biswas gave the welcome speech. Marketing Officer of Elimco Sanjib Kumar Hazari was present on the occasion. Divyangjan children performed the opening song of the programme. 1,253 materials costing 58 lakh 99 thousand rupees have been distributed among 689 Divyangjans of West Tripura district in the camp yesterday.
