Tripura showcases its organic success at MENOPE 2025 in Dubai, attracting global buyers for its GI-certified pineapple, aromatic rice, spices, and millet. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlights new export opportunities and invites investors to Tripura’s 2026 Organic Buyer–Seller Meet.

Tripura has taken a decisive step toward establishing itself as a significant global player in the organic products industry. Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, represented the state at the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Expo (MENOPE) 2025, held from November 17 to 19 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where he highlighted Tripura’s remarkable progress in organic farming and export readiness.

The three-day international expo, one of the largest platforms for natural and organic products in the Middle East, witnessed participation from global manufacturers, buyers, investors, and government delegations. Tripura’s presence stood out, attracting substantial interest from industry leaders across the GCC region, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Tripura’s Organic Products Shine on Global Stage

Tripura’s exhibition pavilion featured an impressive display of the state’s signature organic products, particularly those with Geographical Indication (GI) recognition. Among these were the world-famous Queen Pineapple, jackfruit, Kalikasya aromatic rice, Harinayaran rice, Birds Eye chili, Gandharaj lemon, white sesame, and foxtail millet.

Visitors praised the showcased items for their premium quality, strong aroma, distinct taste, and high export potential. Importers and retailers expressed keen interest in long-term procurement partnerships, especially for the Queen Pineapple, which has already earned a strong reputation in Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Minister Ratan Lal Nath emphasized that Tripura’s performance at the event was a breakthrough moment for the state. “Tripura has opened new doors of opportunity in the global organic market. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our state is emerging as one of India’s fastest-growing organic farming hubs,” he said during his address at the expo.

26,400 Hectares Certified Organic; 26,800 Farmers Shift to Sustainable Agriculture

The minister informed the gathering that Tripura has rapidly expanded its organic farming footprint over the past few years. Currently, 26,400 hectares of agricultural land are fully certified organic. More than 26,800 farmers across the state have transitioned from conventional methods to sustainable, chemical-free cultivation practices.

To strengthen the supply chain and ensure global-level quality and consistency, the state has formed 53 Organic Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). These FPCs are responsible for aggregation, value addition, grading, packaging, branding, and directly connecting farmers with international buyers.

High-Value Aromatic Rice and Spices Attract Investors

A highlight of Tripura’s presentation was its diverse range of aromatic and specialty rice varieties. These include Kalikasya rice, known for its fragrance; sticky brown rice; and black rice, which boasts high antioxidant content and a low glycemic index, making it popular in health-conscious markets worldwide.

Tripura’s organic spices—such as ginger, turmeric, Birds Eye chili, and sesame—also generated interest among buyers due to their purity, color, and medicinal properties. Retailers from Europe and West Asia expressed willingness to explore bulk import agreements, citing rising global demand for clean-label and chemical-free food products.

Tripura Targets Rapid Growth in India’s Expanding Organic Sector

India’s organic food industry is growing at an annual rate of 15–20%, driven by rising consumer awareness and global demand. Nath asserted that Tripura is well-positioned to emerge as a key contributor to this growth curve.

He also promoted the state’s renowned agarwood, agar oil, natural perfumes, and bamboo-based handicrafts, which have long-standing popularity in Gulf and Southeast Asian markets. Nath appealed to global investors to explore opportunities in processing units, packaging facilities, and export-oriented manufacturing in Tripura.

Global Investors Invited to Tripura’s Buyer–Seller Meet in 2026

During the event, the minister extended a formal invitation to international buyers, traders, and investors to visit Tripura in January 2026, when the state will host a large-scale Organic Buyer–Seller Meet. The event will provide a platform to explore collaborations in organic farming, food processing, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly product manufacturing.

Tripura Organic Mission Director Rajib Deb Barma accompanied the minister throughout the visit, facilitating discussions with global stakeholders and promoting the state’s long-term export strategy.
