In Men’s Cricket, Hosts India will resume their first innings at the overnight score of 37/1 against South Africa on day 2 of the first Test match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. The match will begin at 9:30 AM. KL Rahul on 13 and Washington Sundar on six were at the crease when stumps were drawn last evening. Earlier in the day, opting to bat after winning the toss, South Africa were bundled out for 159 runs in their first innings. Indian bowlers dominated the innings with Jasprit Bumrah taking five wicket, while Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each.
The second and final Test match of the series will be played in Guwahati from 22nd of this month. With crucial World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points on the line, Indian side aims to strengthen its push for a top-two finish and a spot in the 2027 WTC final to be held at Lord’s in UK. Team India sits at the third position in the WTC standings after a 2-2 draw in England and a 2-Nil sweep of West Indies.
