India Enter Final of ICC Women’s ODI World Cup After Defeating Australia

In the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, India stormed into the final, defeating Australia by 5 wickets in a thrilling semifinal match at Dr D.Y. Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai last night.
 
 
Chasing a target of 339 runs, India overhauled the target with 5 wickets in hand and 9 balls to spare. Jemimah Rodrigues’s dazzling unbeaten 127 off 134 and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s 89 off 88 helped India chase down the mammoth total posted by the defending champions, Australia. Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma picked up 2 wickets each for India.
 

Earlier, opting to bat first, Australia were bowled out for 338 runs in 49.5 overs. Phoebe Litchfield scored 119 while Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland scalped 2 wickets each for Australia.
 

Jemimah Rodrigues was adjudged player of the match. Now India will face South Africa in the summit clash at Dr D.Y. Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. Earlier, South Africa reached the final after a commanding 125-run victory over England in Guwahati in the first semi-final yesterday.
