Tripura to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary with the Sardar@150 Unity March from October 31, featuring youth marches, awareness drives, cultural events, and national-level celebrations from Karamsad to the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

Tripura will join the rest of the country in celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a series of grand programmes under the Sardar@150 campaign. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy on Monday announced that the celebrations will begin with district-level Unity Marches from October 31, 2025, coinciding with National Unity Day.

“Keeping parity with the whole country, Tripura will organise a host of activities to honour the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man of India,” said Minister Roy. He informed that Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya had digitally launched the campaign’s online phase through the MY Bharat portal. This phase includes a social media reel contest, essay competition, and the Sardar@150 Young Leaders Programme, which will select 150 youth leaders to participate in the national Unity March.

Two-Phase Celebration Across India

According to the Minister, the Sardar@150 Unity March will unfold in two major phases — district-level and national-level — across the country.
“In every district, eight to ten kilometre-long marches will be held between October 31 and November 25, 2025. Each march will cover key routes within the parliamentary constituencies,” Roy said.

He added that schools and colleges would organise essay and debate competitions, seminars, and street plays to spread awareness about Sardar Patel’s contribution to India’s unity and integrity. Participants will also take pledges for a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ (drug-free India) and ‘Garv Se Swadeshi’ (pride in indigenous products).

District-Level Activities in Tripura

Minister Roy elaborated on the district-level plans for Tripura. Each district will form a District Core Committee consisting of local administrative heads, MLAs, youth officers, NSS and MY Bharat representatives, and civil society members.
Proposed routes for the Unity March include:

  • Kailashahar to Unakoti Heritage (Unakoti district)

  • Ambassa to Kulai (Dhalai)

  • Khowai to Chebri (Khowai)

  • Ujjayanta to DDSSC, Badharghat (West Tripura)

  • District Sports Complex to Matarbari (Gomati)

  • Belonia College to Bharat Chandra Nagar Block (South Tripura)

  • Rastarmatha to Charilam (Sepahijala)

  • Dharmanagar Degree College to DM Office (North Tripura)

Officials mentioned that the routes may be slightly modified based on local conditions and ground feasibility.

Each district-level event will also feature yoga sessions, health camps, cleanliness drives, and cultural programmes. Participants will pay floral tributes to Sardar Patel’s portraits and read out the Atmanirbhar Bharat pledge, reaffirming their commitment to nation-building.

National-Level Unity March: 150 km Journey

The grand national-level Unity March will take place from November 26 to December 6, 2025, covering 150 kilometres from Sardar Patel’s birthplace, Karamsad, to the Statue of Unity at Kevadia, Gujarat.

Along this historic route, MY Bharat, NSS, and NCC cadets, along with youth leaders from across India, will engage in community development activities in every village they pass. The journey will feature 150 exhibition stops, highlighting Sardar Patel’s life, his role in integrating India, and the country’s diverse cultural heritage.

Each evening, participants will gather for ‘Sardar Gatha’ sessions, where eminent scholars and historians will narrate inspirational stories about Sardar Patel’s leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to a united India.

Promoting National Integration and Youth Participation

Minister Tinku Roy emphasised that the Sardar@150 campaign is not just a commemorative event but a youth movement to strengthen unity, patriotism, and civic responsibility. “Through these marches and activities, we aim to connect the youth with the ideals of Sardar Patel — unity, integrity, and self-reliance,” he said.
