A father-son duo from Agartala, Tripura, is cycling to Delhi, inspiring India with their courage, endurance, and family spirit. Their 2,400-km journey highlights determination, fitness, and hope, proving that no challenge is impossible with willpower and unity.

In an extraordinary feat of endurance, passion, and family spirit, a father-son duo from Agartala, Tripura, have embarked on a remarkable cycling expedition from Agartala to Delhi — a journey that has captivated hearts across the Northeast and beyond.

Twenty-three-year-old Shyamtaru Datta and his father, Utpal Datta, began their inspiring journey on September 23, setting off from their home in Haradhan Sangha, Agartala. As of now, the pair have reached Patna, pedalling their way steadily toward the national capital. Their story is not only one of physical endurance but also of emotional strength, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between father and son.

Shyamtaru, a graduate of Holy Cross College, is a proud member of the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, a well-known cycling group established in 2018 that promotes fitness, environmental awareness, and social causes through cycling. His father, Utpal Datta, a respected Class-I contractor, is equally admired in the local community for his integrity and dedication to his work. Cycling, it seems, runs in their blood — Shyamtaru’s mother, Rupa Datta, an engineer by profession, is also a core member of the same foundation and a passionate cyclist herself.

But beyond the kilometres they’ve conquered, what makes this expedition truly special is the human story behind it. Shyamtaru, who has often been described as a slow learner, has never allowed challenges to define him. Instead, his unwavering determination and optimistic outlook have made him an inspiration to many. His journey demonstrates that limitations exist only in the mind — and that perseverance, love, and self-belief can transform any obstacle into an opportunity.

With his father beside him every step of the way, Shyamtaru’s expedition has become a powerful symbol of love, courage, and resilience. Their journey from Tripura’s capital to Delhi — a distance of over 2,400 kilometres — is not just about reaching a destination, but about proving that strength of spirit can carry one far beyond physical boundaries.

Both father and son have been deeply involved in the local cycling movement. Since the early days of the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, they have taken part in several major events, including the historic Agartala-to-Bangladesh ride and multiple city rallies promoting social causes. Their tireless dedication has earned them immense respect among cycling enthusiasts and the broader community.

Each day on the road, the Dattas cover between 50 and 100 kilometres, relying solely on their bicycles and minimal gear. Along the way, they meet new people, experience different landscapes, and share their message of willpower and hope. Their journey is not only a test of stamina but also a voyage of self-discovery and human connection.

Limitations don’t exist in the body; they live only in the mind. When the mind is strong, everything becomes possible,” says Shyamtaru — words that perfectly capture the spirit of their ride.

Their story has struck a chord with countless people across social media, inspiring youth to embrace discipline, health, and mental strength. As they continue their journey toward Delhi, their determination reminds the nation that dreams are achievable when powered by courage, conviction, and family support.
