Dengue Death Toll in Bangladesh Crosses 200

Must Read

In Bangladesh, the dengue situation has taken a grave turn, with the death toll crossing 200 since the beginning of this year. Health authorities report that hospitals across Dhaka and other major cities are struggling to cope with the steady rise in patients.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, tens of thousands of dengue cases have been recorded nationwide, with the majority reported from the capital Dhaka. Doctors say overcrowded hospitals and shortages of beds are compounding the challenge, as more patients arrive daily with severe symptoms.

Public health experts attribute the surge to prolonged monsoon rains, stagnant water, and inadequate mosquito control measures. They have urged immediate community action, alongside intensified government-led drives to destroy breeding grounds of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the primary carrier of the disease.

Authorities have also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, seek early medical attention, and follow preventive guidelines.Bangladesh has faced recurring dengue outbreaks in recent years, but the rising fatalities this year have sparked serious concern among health officials and the public alike.
