Raising Awareness on Heart Health

Must Read

Heartbeats are the rhythms of life.  Every heartbeat is a gentle reminder that it is a gift from god. Today, World Heart Day is being celebrated across the globe. This day is observed to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases and promote heart health globally.

The theme of this year’s World Heart Day is Don’t Miss a Beat, focusing on the importance of consistent heart health awareness and proactive care.  The day encourages individuals, communities, and governments to take action by adopting healthy habits, implementing supportive policies, and increasing access to heart care to prevent and manage heart-related conditions.

The day created by the World Heart Federation serves as a global movement to inspire heart-healthy behaviours and make equitable heart health a priority for everyone.  According to the Indian Heart Association, sudden cardiac arrest claims more than 7 lakh lives annually, making it one of the leading causes of death in India. Talking to the Media, Dr Ashok Gupta, Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Delhi Heart and Lungs Institute, has shared valuable insights on maintaining heart health.

80% of premature cardiovascular disease is preventable through lifestyle choices, early detection, and accessible care. World Heart Day is an opportunity to ignite global conversations
