Gomati district has launched a large-scale women’s health screening drive under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar campaign, aiming to screen all women by September 27. Free health camps, early diagnosis, and maternal benefits mark this proactive effort for women’s well-being.

Gomati district has embarked on an ambitious mission to ensure that every woman undergoes comprehensive health screening under the nationwide campaign “Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar”, launched on Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Madhya Pradesh. The initiative, which will continue until October 2, aims to promote women’s health as a foundation for building a stronger and more developed India.

At the national launch, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that “Women power is a pillar of a developed India.” He urged all mothers and sisters to actively participate in the health screening camps being conducted across the country. The campaign has been envisioned as a critical step in improving healthcare access for women, detecting health conditions at an early stage, and ensuring treatment and support for better long-term outcomes.

Launch in Gomati District

In Gomati district, the ceremonial launch took place at the Rajarshi Kalakshetra, where Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Deb Roy and Jitendra Majumder, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Chandra Majumder, and Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya were present. The event was also attended by senior officials including Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Kamal Riang, District Education Officer Kalyan Bhadra, and Deputy Director of the Social Education Department Sanjit Rupini.

To mark the occasion, Gomati District Hospital organized a specialized health camp offering a wide range of services. Women were provided free check-ups in eye care, medicine, surgery, pediatric care, ECG, ultrasonography, and received free medicines. The turnout highlighted the importance of the campaign in bridging healthcare gaps for women, particularly those who may not otherwise access specialized medical care.

Scale of the Campaign in Gomati

According to CMO Dr. Riang, the district has planned an extensive series of 1,073 health camps, including more than 20 specialized medical camps. Out of these, two specialized camps and over 170 screening camps have already been completed.

The district administration has also put mechanisms in place to ensure maximum participation. Dr. Riang recently convened a review meeting with institutional heads, stressing the goal of screening every woman in the district. Over just the last two days, nearly 2,000 women have already been screened.

In addition, the Social Education Department reported that 20 pregnant women have received new Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana cards, extending further maternal benefits under government schemes.

District’s Deadline: Ahead of National Target

While the nationwide campaign runs until October 2, Gomati district has set itself a more ambitious deadline. The administration aims to complete its health screening objectives by September 27, several days ahead of schedule.

Dr. Riang stressed that the Prime Minister’s vision is to ensure no woman is left behind. “Screening is very important because it allows for early diagnosis of diseases,” he explained. “Many times, patients are unaware of their condition. If an issue is detected at a camp, we provide referrals for further treatment.”

Call for Collective Effort

Highlighting the community-driven aspect of the campaign, Dr. Riang called upon NGOs and local organizations to support the effort and help bring more women to the health camps. He underlined that improving women’s health indicators is directly linked to broader development goals and family well-being.

The initiative has already begun to show progress, but the district administration believes the real measure of success will be visible in the coming days as more women undergo screening and access early interventions.

As the campaign gathers momentum, Gomati district’s proactive approach sets an example for other regions. The combined efforts of government officials, healthcare workers, educators, and civil society are laying the foundation for a healthier and stronger society—one where empowered women contribute actively to the nation’s development.
