Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai spoke as a keynote speaker in Nepal India Dialogue on recent jurisprudence and Justice sector reform in Kathmandu.
The Dialogue saw participants of Indian delegation, working judges of Supreme Court and High courts, former chief justices of Nepal, advocates of Human Rights and climate change and other stakeholders.
CJI Gavai said the judiciary serves as a guardian and it not only ensures justice but uphold constitution by ensuring equality and human dignity.
Chief Justice of Nepal Prakashman Singh Raut addressing emphasised that India and Nepal not only share close borders but also strong bond in professional exchange in the legal sector.
There has been continuous judicial cooperation between the two neighbours. Previously, in 2024, CJI DY Chandrachud paid a three-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Chief Justice of Nepal Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.
