A new chapter in Indian athletics began today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar of Odisha with the hosting of the World Athletics Bronze-Level Continental Tour 2025 for the first time in the country.
The one-day meet witnessed 160 women and Men athletes from 17 countries. This included 93 from India competing in 18 track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races, javelin throw, and other disciplines. Final results of different events are still awaited.
Top performers of the events will secure qualification marks for next month’s World Athletics Championships scheduled to be held in Tokyo. Indian javelin throwers Annu Rani and Sachin Yadav, long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Shaili Singh and sprinter Animesh Kujur are participating in this maiden athletics event.
