A total of 278 kilometres of Railways lines have been commissioned in the North Eastern Region till March this year with an expenditure of 41 thousand 676 crore rupees. This was stated by the Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said, 12 Railway projects of a total length of 777 kilometers have been sanctioned to augment and increase line capacity of the rail network situated in the NorthEast Region. The commissioned projects include Bogibeel Bridge, Agartala-Sabroom new line, Lumding-Hojai and New Bongaigaon-Agthori doubling of line among others. The Minister stated that 13 new lines, and 4 doubling of line of total length one thousand 790 kilometres in the North East Region have been sanctioned under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan during the last three years.
