Doordarshan Aims to Promote Regional Languages and Culturally Rich Programs; Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal

Prasar Bharati Chairman, Navneet Kumar Sehgal, said that the endeavour of Doordarshan is to promote regional languages and produce culturally rich family programs. After inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Doordarshan Punjabi in Jalandhar last evening, Mr Sehgal said that he is happy to know that the Punjabi channel is at the top amongst all the regional channels of the Doordarshan network, and at the same time, it is promoting Punjabi culture by taking the audience along. He said that now there are so many channels to watch as compared to when Doordarshan was the only channel available. So it needs to connect more viewers with itself, especially the younger generation, and retain them by giving interesting content.
 
The Chairman said the DD now has the WAVES OTT platform also, which can be connected to mobile phones anywhere in the world. It has a blend of old and new programs.
 
A special cultural program, ‘Jashan Di Raat’ was organised on the occasion, in which renowned artists and singers from the film industry performed.
