The government has given special importance to the promotion of quality education in the state and in order to educate the students in quality education, nine Vidyajyoti schools have been opened in Sonamura sub-division alone, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath adding that it had also been decided to open eight model schools in four blocks of Sonamura sub-division under PM SHRI scheme.
He was inaugurating the programme of distribution of bicycles among the girls of different schools in Sonamura sub-division at Melaghar Town Hall under the initiative of the School Education Department.
The present government of the state is working on the development of women. Several initiatives have been taken to ensure that not a single girl in the state is deprived of education, said Nath.
At the programme, the Education Minister said, the present government has spent a total of Rs 33.11 crore in providing bicycles to schoolgirls.
He said, “during the previous government, bicycles were not given to all the schoolgirls. The present government is distributing these bicycles among the girls from all sections of the society”.
MLA Subhash Das said at the programme that the State and Central Governments are giving efforts in various ways for women empowerment and their overall welfare. Director of Higher Education Department N.C Sharma spoke among others. District Education Officer Habul Lodh gave the welcome speech. Chairperson of Sepahijala Zila Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das etc. were also present at the programme.
