Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has invited the agitating 10, 323 teachers to his official chamber on Tuesday to discuss their issue and find a way out of the impasse.
Official sources said, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Advocate General SS Dey, Law secretary B Palit, education secretary Brijesh Pande are also scheduled to attend the meeting. Sources said, from the teachers Pradip Banik, Santanu Bhattacharya and three or four more will attend. Representatives from other groups of the 10, 323 teachers are also likely to join. This group was planning agitation from Monday. They have also called off the agitation following the latest development.
The terminated teachers said they are hopeful that the discussion with the Chief Minister will find some positive decisions from the government and the plight of the teachers would end. The meeting will discuss in threadbare the legal positions of issue.
A section of 10,323 teachers have been on fast unto death agitation for more than one month at Orient Choumuhani to press for their reinstatement in the service- teaching job.
This will be the second time that the Chief Minister will meet the teachers on the matter.
The teachers are now claiming that the Court verdict following which their jobs were terminated was misinterpreted and partially understood by the then government. They allege that the concerned officials of the then Left Front government did not closely read the order itself- which , they said, kept a grey areas and only terminated some of the teachers and not all.
