Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Saturday said it would not hold road marches across Tamil Nadu a day after Madras High Court permitted them only in confounded locations, media reports said.

RSS had sought permission to hold marches in 50 places across Tamil Nadu on Sunday, November 6, according to an NDTV report.

Out of the proposed places, the state government had allowed the right-wing organisation to hold the events only three.

The Madras High Court gave conditional permission to the RSS to hold marches in 44 places across Tamil Nadu.

It also said that RSS should hold the marches peacefully or bear consequences.

Unhappy with the directive, RSS said the order was unacceptable.

Route marches happen in the open in Kashmir, West Bengal, Kerala other places. We are not holding our Tamil Nadu route marches on November 6th. We will appeal, a statement from the RSS said.

The court also barred marches in communally sensitive areas — Coimbatore, Pollachi, and Nagercoil, following intelligence inputs, according to the NDTV report.

The court also ruled that RSS can seek permission after two months for marches in six locations as it found nothing adverse in intelligence inputs, said the report.

The Tamil Nadu government had earlier denied permission, despite the court permitting it on October 2.

The state government has cited law and order concerns in the aftermath of the ban on the Popular Front of India. (PFI).
