Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the much ambitious tourist accommodation in the Narkelkunja island of the picturesque Damboor lake on Monday. The accomodations—all well furnished Log Hut cabins are nestled in the hypnotic ambience at the huge Damboor waterbody at the backdrop. All the Log Hut were somewhat a mixture of Tripura’s traditional Tong houses of the indigenous people and the tree houses of the aubergines in other parts of the world. They are all made of locally procured woods while in the interior all modern facilities are attached.
Every Log Hut at Narkelkunja consists one bed room, one drawing room, one toilet and balcony.
In augurating the Log Huts the Chief Minister hoped that they would not only help the tourists to stay overnight in one of the most beautiful and serene places of the state but also give a fillip to the tourist inflow in the state.
The Chief Minister also launched some water sports activities and two Banana boats in the same programme.
The Log Huts project would have 23 such cabins under Swadesh Darshan-I scheme. As of now, 15 Log Huts were completed and the works for remaining eight Log Huts were underway.
The Chief Minister tweeted, “15 new Log Huts developed at Narkelkunja are now open for tourists. Today inaugurated the new facility in presence of Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri @Pranajitsinghar, MP Shri @RebatiTripura & other dignitaries. The Log Huts will now attract more tourists at Narkelkunja.”
He thanked the Tourism department for taking such initiatives to develop the Tourism sector.
The Chief Minister said, ‘around 5 lakhs domestic and international tourists visit Tripura every year, he said, adding that initiatives are being taken to attract more tourists’.
The Minister for Tourism Pranajit Singha Roy said, an amount of Rs. 100 crore was spent for the development of the state’s tourist spots over the past four and half years. More Rs. 200 crore would be spent in the days to come through ADB.
