Actor Pankaj Tripathi, known for his powerful performances, reveals he’s stepping away from back-to-back work to focus on personal well-being. With Metro…In Dino releasing soon, Tripathi reflects on his evolving reasons for acting and a new balance between career and life.

Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, known for his versatility and grounded persona, is making a conscious shift in his professional life. Despite a packed schedule featuring upcoming projects like Metro…In Dino, Criminal Justice Season 4, and an untitled film with director Amit Rai, Tripathi has decided to step back from a hectic work routine to prioritize his well-being and family life.

In a recent conversation with IANS, the actor revealed his new approach to work. “So now, I have decided that I will do one thing, and I will take a month’s leave for 20 days. I won’t do it back to back like before. I will finish one work, take a month’s leave, and then start another. Now I won’t do that much. I will work less,” Tripathi said candidly.

This shift marks a significant change for the actor, who has been one of the most sought-after talents in Indian cinema and streaming platforms. His nuanced performances in Mirzapur, Gangs of Wasseypur, Newton, and Mimi have earned him critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. Yet, Tripathi has consistently maintained that acting, for him, has always been more than just a means to gain fame or wealth.

When asked whether his reasons for acting have evolved over the years, Tripathi reflected, “The reason has changed a little. But earlier I used to say that I am not doing it for fame or money. But deep down, if it was for fame or money, then only I would have come to become an actor. Yes. So I don’t know. But now I feel that it has changed a little.”

This introspection reflects a deeper maturity and perhaps a more spiritual connection to his craft. It also comes at a time when conversations around mental health and work-life balance in the entertainment industry are becoming more mainstream.

Tripathi is currently gearing up for the release of Metro…In Dino, a film directed by Anurag Basu that explores the intricacies of modern relationships. The film, set to hit theatres on July 4, boasts an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta.

A spiritual successor to Basu’s 2007 hit Life in a… Metro, the film is expected to delve into themes of love, heartbreak, and emotional connections in urban settings. Much like its predecessor, which tackled subjects such as extramarital affairs, commitment issues, and the challenges of modern love, Metro…In Dino aims to capture the pulse of contemporary relationships in a fast-paced world.

Life in a… Metro drew partial inspiration from Billy Wilder’s 1960 classic The Apartment and stood out for its rich, character-driven narrative. Featuring stalwarts like Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Irrfan Khan, and Konkona Sen Sharma, the original film became a cult classic for its honest portrayal of flawed yet relatable characters. With Metro…In Dino, Basu returns to the same emotional territory but with a modern twist and a fresh cast.

Tripathi’s presence in the film adds depth and gravitas, as he is known for bringing subtlety and emotional weight to his roles. With him stepping into this evolving cinematic space while also embracing a slower pace in his career, audiences can expect performances that are even more layered and introspective.

As the entertainment industry evolves, actors like Pankaj Tripathi are leading the way not just with stellar performances, but also with thoughtful choices that emphasize quality of life over quantity of work. His decision to embrace work-life balance may well inspire others in the field to reflect on the cost of constant hustle.

With Metro…In Dino poised for release and multiple projects in the pipeline, Tripathi remains a prominent force in Indian cinema — now with a renewed sense of purpose and pace.
