Must Read

In Ladakh, the celebration of World Bicycling Day and World Environment Day was held with great enthusiasm in Kargil, as a cycle rally was organised from the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC), Kargil, to NHPC Chutak Power Station, Minji, and back.

The event was flagged off by Imteeaz Kacho, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil. The rally witnessed participation from around 60 enthusiastic cyclists, reflecting strong community engagement towards environmental and fitness awareness.

The rally was organised by Downhill Kargil Adventure Sports Club, sponsored by NHPC Chutak Power Station, and supported by the District Administration, Kargil.

Cyclists were warmly received at NHPC Chutak, where a short photo session and refreshments were arranged. Later, participants rode back to the starting point, where lunch was served at the Tourist Facilitation Centre.

On the sidelines of the event, a cleanliness drive was conducted near the Chutak Hydro Project, in which cyclists and volunteers of the club took active part. The initiative emphasised the need for environmental protection, public cleanliness, and the adoption of eco-friendly modes of transport.

Such initiatives aim to spread awareness about the importance of a clean environment, sustainable lifestyle, and healthy habits, particularly in the backdrop of increasing environmental challenges.
