President Murmu promulgates amendment reserving one-third seats for women in Ladakh Hill Councils –

President Droupadi Murmu has promulgated the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Amendment ) Regulation Rules, 2025 for further amendment in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, 1997 to reserve one-third of the total seats for women.
 
Under the amendment, these seats will be allotted to each different territorial constituency on serial numbers by rotation through a gazetted notification.
 
Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council is a statutory body with thirty members in the general council governing in their respective Leh and Kargil districts.
