Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino teases its first track “Zamaana Lage,” blending modern love stories with poetic ghazal vibes. Featuring stars like Anupam Kher, Sara Ali Khan, and Pankaj Tripathi, the film’s musical journey begins ahead of its July 4 release. Full song drops on May 28.
After a prolonged period of anticipation, Anurag Basu’s upcoming film Metro…In Dino has finally offered its first peek into the complex world it promises to unfold. The makers have dropped the teaser for the film’s debut track, “Zamaana Lage”, giving audiences not just a taste of the film’s music, but also its emotional and narrative landscape.
This soulful track doesn’t just serve as a musical entry into the film’s world—it also introduces us to its remarkable ensemble cast. With acting stalwarts like Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neena Gupta, and younger stars like Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Saswata Chatterjee, the film promises a rich interplay of characters, stories, and emotions.
“Zamaana Lage”, composed by celebrated music director Pritam, is brought to life by the melodious voices of Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh. The song is deeply inspired by a line from renowned Indian poet Qaisar Ul Jafri—“Tumhaare sheher ka mausam bada suhana lage”. The rest of the lyrics have been intricately crafted by Sandeep Shrivastava, blending classical poetic imagery with the rawness of contemporary emotional struggles.
According to Pritam, the goal of the track was to revive the ghazal form—an artful blend of poetry and emotion—not as a throwback to nostalgia, but as a reimagined piece that speaks to today’s generation. “With its rich history and timeless depth, we felt it doesn’t always have to live in a classical soundscape. A ghazal can be pop—it can be modern in sound and structure, while still holding on to its poetic soul,” he said.
The teaser also sheds light on the interconnected lives of the characters, each grappling with their own interpretations and experiences of love, loss, and longing. Much like Basu’s earlier works—Life in a… Metro and Ludo—this final chapter of his trilogy aims to portray love in the urban age as multifaceted, sometimes harsh, yet deeply moving.
Jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu, Metro…In Dino is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd.
The full track of “Zamaana Lage” is scheduled to be released on 28th May, while the film is expected to hit the theatres on 4th July. With its promising cast, emotionally charged storytelling, and a musical revival of ghazal for modern sensibilities, Metro…In Dino seems poised to strike a deep chord with audiences.
