Sunny Deol begins shooting for Border 2 in Dehradun, sharing glimpses of the beautiful landscape. Featuring Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh, the film, directed by Anurag Singh, is based on the Kargil War and is slated for a January 23, 2026 release.
Riding high on the massive success of Jaat, Sunny Deol has stepped into action once again, this time for the highly anticipated film Border 2. Currently, the veteran actor is shooting in the scenic locales of Dehradun, soaking in the natural beauty while working on the sequel to the iconic 1997 war drama Border.
Sunny recently shared a glimpse of his experience through his Instagram stories, posting a video featuring a mesmerizing sunset over Dehradun’s landscapes. Captivated by the serene environment, Sunny was heard saying, “So…so…so.. beautiful,” while his video was captioned, “Reached Border shooting wild weather and beautiful sunset in Dehradun.”
Joining Sunny Deol in Border 2 are actors Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh, who form the primary cast. The film promises to deliver a powerful story of patriotism and valor, much like its predecessor.
Earlier in February, a behind-the-scenes picture from the film’s sets in Jhansi was shared on social media. The snapshot featured Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Chanana, filmmaker Binoy Gandhi, and director Anurag Singh. The photo showed Sunny and Varun perched atop a military tank while the team stood proudly in front, exuding an atmosphere of energy and camaraderie.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-produced by Shiv Chanana and Binoy Gandhi, and directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is backed by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and JP Dutta’s J.P. Films.
Unlike the original Border, which depicted the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, Border 2 is reportedly based on the Kargil War of 1999. This conflict saw Pakistani troops infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) and occupy Indian territory. In response, India launched a major military offensive to reclaim nearly all of the lost ground, securing approximately 75%-80% of the intruded areas.
With a compelling story of courage and sacrifice, Border 2 is gearing up to strike a chord with audiences once again. The film is set to release on January 23, 2026, promising a gripping tale of patriotism for the new generation.
