An interaction programme was organized with beneficiaries of Boxanagar block of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana with the joint initiative of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare department and Rural Development department.

Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated the interaction programme at Boxanagar Community Hall on Thursday.  She said, 3, 353 farmers of Boxanagar block area are getting assistance under PMKISAN. Drinking water connection has been provided to 3.84 lakhs families of the state under Jal Jeevan Mission. Social pension of Rs 2,000 will be provided before this Durga Puja. She said, houses have been given under 5, 527 families of the block under PMAY-G.

Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in the programme said, the government is working to provide all government facilities to people of all sections of the society. Many farmers due to financial crisis in the past days lost their hopes on farming. But it was possible to double their income within the last 4 years with the joint efforts of the central and the state government.

He also said, so far, 1 thousand 34 MT paddy has been procured at MSP from farmers of Boxanagar block area. Welcome speech was delivered by Director of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare department Nabojit Chakma. Others present during the interaction programme were Chairman of Boxanagar Panchayat Samiti Sanjay Sarkar, Sepahijala District Magistrate & Collector Vishwasree B., Sonamura SDM Ratan Bhowmik and social worker Debabrata Bhatta.
