Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy announced a series of initiatives to promote sports and youth engagement in Tripura during a press conference at the Secretariat.
He revealed that the state’s sports talent hunt has registered 34,571 young athletes through clubs, municipalities, and local governing bodies. The selected talents will receive specialized training and development opportunities. To streamline the process, the TSSB LIVE app has been introduced for registration and monitoring.
In the run-up to Youth Day, several events have been planned, including a state-level youth parliament on March 22, a blood donation camp on March 23, and activities such as mini-marathons, folk performances, quizzes, and theatrical plays.
Minister Roy also addressed concerns about a student’s suicide at the Sports School of Tripura. The department has sought an investigation from the Child Welfare Committee, urging counseling in all 25 state-run homes. Officials are also examining social media and mobile content to understand psychological trends affecting youth.
