Various science-based programs should be implemented to inspire students and make science more accessible. Science, Technology, and Environment Minister Animesh Debbarma emphasized this while inaugurating the National Science Day 2025 celebrations at Sukanta Academy today.

Minister Debbarma recalled that Dr. C.V. Raman won the Nobel Prize in 1930 for discovering the Raman Effect, and National Science Day is celebrated annually on February 28 in his honor.

The Minister stressed the need for the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment to promote scientific awareness and encourage students to showcase their talents through innovative models. He also noted that rapid technological advancements require adaptation, and prioritizing science education is crucial for national progress.

Dr. K. Shashikumar, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment, urged young minds to embrace innovation for India’s scientific growth. The Director of the department, Mahendra Singh, delivered the welcome speech.

The event featured a technical session with eminent scientist Dr. Avinash Chauhan, NIT Professor Mrinal Kanti Debbarma, and Associate Professor Dr. Shaoli Bardhan from Techno College of Engineering, who discussed advancements in science and technology.

As part of the celebration, students from various technical colleges in Tripura showcased their science models at Sukanta Academy. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Bhavatosh Dutta, Senior Scientific Officer of Sukanta Academy for Science, Arts, and Culture Auditorium.
