Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the redeveloped Matabari temple in April, as indicated by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday.

Although the exact date for the inauguration has not been finalized, the administration is optimistic that the event will take place within the first week of April.

During his visit, Minister Pranajit Singha Roy reviewed the progress of the Matabari redevelopment project, which is being carried out under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme. Following the inspection, he chaired a high-level meeting attended by Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, Gomati District Magistrate T.K. Chakma, and other key officials. The meeting involved extensive discussions on the status of the ongoing work and future plans for the temple complex.

Addressing the media, the Finance Minister stated that the authorities have set a target to complete all remaining construction and development work within the Mata Tripurasundari Temple premises by March 20.

Additionally, he mentioned that the government is considering a proposal to prohibit the sale and consumption of non-vegetarian food items in and around Matabari to maintain the sanctity of the religious site. The district administration is also working on demarcating a specific area around the temple where building height restrictions will be imposed. No new construction will be allowed to exceed the height of the temple within this designated zone.

Furthermore, addressing the ongoing criticism on social media regarding the color scheme of the newly developed structures within the temple premises, the Finance Minister countered the concerns and assured that the redevelopment efforts are being carried out with utmost consideration for cultural and religious sentiments.
