Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Takarjala, Tripura is grappling with a health crisis as several students have fallen ill simultaneously. In response, the District Magistrate has issued a show-cause notice to the principal, requiring an explanation for the situation and the actions being taken to resolve it.

Reports indicate that students residing in the government hostel began experiencing stomach aches late Tuesday night, necessitating urgent medical attention. They were swiftly transported to the Takarjala Community Health Centre for treatment.

The District Magistrate’s show-cause notice aims to ensure student safety by demanding an account from the principal on the outbreak’s origins and the preventive measures being implemented.

The principal, addressing the situation, stated, “In my four years of service, nothing like this has ever occurred. I personally oversee everything here. While the cause remains unknown, I am taking all necessary steps to safeguard the children. We are thoroughly washing all utensils, cleaning the kitchen, and testing the water. Meanwhile, I have arranged for mineral water for the children until we receive the test results.”

He added, “I will also ensure that students avoid foods like chowmein or samosas and instead provide them with fruits and milk.”

Parents and the local community have expressed serious concerns regarding the children’s health and safety, calling for a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.
