The state cabinet in a major decision on Wednesday decided to appoint as many as 940 teachers, 304 firemen and 25 drivers’

Information and Cultural Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury after the cabinet meeting told reporters that the state government would appoint 230 Graduate and 110 Post Graduate Teachers through Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT).

“Besides”, the minister said, “the cabinet also approved another proposal for recruitment of 600 teachers for elementary level under the Education department”.

Apart from Education department the council of minister also resolved to appoint 304 firemen and 25 drivers under the Fire and Emergency Services department 

On top of that the cabinet also gave a go –ahead to the proposal for increasing the ration money of TSR/ Police personnel under the Home department by Rs 200. The TSR and policemen now are entitled for Rs. 800 ration money which will now be increased  to Rs. 1000. The increase would entail a cost Rs. 4,31,64,800 to the government exchequer per month. The police personnel up to Inspector rank and TSR personnel up to Subedar would get the benefit, the minister added.

Besides, the cabinet also approved a hike in the retirement age of TSR jawans from 57 to 60 years. It would cost Rs. 53,44,45,046 per year.

In another important decision, the council of ministers decided that exempt the SHGs of the stamp duty for loans up to Rs. 10 lakh.
