The Indian Coast Guard – ICG rescued 12 crew members of the sunken Indian vessel MSV Al Piranpir from the North Arabian Sea yesterday. The mechanized sailing vessel had departed from Porbandar in Gujarat and was en route to Bandar Abbas, Iran before it sank in the morning hours yesterday due to rough seas and flooding. The Defence Ministry said that the ICG Ship Sarthak was immediately diverted and proceeded at maximum speed to the reported location after receiving a distressed call. The 12 crew members of Al Piranpir had abandoned their vessel, and were located, and rescued approximately 270 kilometers, west of Dwarka in Gujarat. The rescued crew members were examined by the medical team on-board ICGS Sarthak and were reported to be in good health.

The Ministry highlighted that the daring rescue operation showcased the ICG’s capabilities and readiness to address maritime emergencies in the region. It mentioned that the search and rescue mission was marked by close collaboration between the Indian Coast Guard and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA).
