Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura Dr Manik Saha has taken oath as the member of the upper house on Tuesday. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu administered the oath of office. Saha succeeded CPIM’s Jharna Das Baidya as the new Rajya Sabha MP. In the polls held on March 31 last, Saha defeated CPIM candidate Bhanu Lal Saha with a considerable margin. Saha got 40 votes in total whereas his rival candidate secured 15 votes. Dr Saha is also the president of Tripura BJP. After his swearing in, Saha took to twitter and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. He said he will try his level best to become the voice of Tripura people.
