Tripura’s Opposition Leader, Jitendra Chaudhury, has expressed grave concerns over the recent bail granted to three accused individuals involved in threatening traffic police personnel at Netaji Chowmuhani, Agartala. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Chaudhury urged the state government to adopt a stricter stance against rising criminal activities.

Referring to media reports, Chaudhury highlighted that the three accused were granted bail without spending any time in custody, sparking worries about the lax approach towards such offenders. The incident, captured in the public eye, raised questions about the state’s overall law enforcement efficiency.

Chaudhury emphasized that this lenient handling of criminals could embolden anti-social elements. He cited a series of serious incidents in Gandatwisa, Kaitorabari, and Kadamtala over the last two and a half months, which have placed Tripura’s law and order under significant strain.

In his letter, Chaudhury further alleged that a state cabinet minister had been actively promoting communally charged messages on social media, which could further destabilize peace in the region. He called for immediate legal action against the minister.

The Opposition Leader’s appeal underscores a growing concern regarding the perceived soft stance on rising crime in the state, demanding urgent and stringent measures to restore law and order.
