Eight workers’ association of Hill and Doors region of West Bengal has called for a 12-hour strike demanding a 20% bonus before the Durga Puja. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is coming back to Kolkata today after taking stock of the flood situation in Jalpaiguri and other districts of the North Bengal.
Mamata said at Bagdogra airport that there is no bandh culture in West Bengal. Gorkhaland Territorial Administration GTA has conveyed that they neither support nor oppose the strike of the tea plantation workers.
Meanwhile, the chief secretary Dr Manoj Pant had a meeting with the labour secretary. The state government has called for a meeting today to break the stalemate.
