The Department related Standing Committees of the Parliament has been constituted. Bhartruhari Mahtab of BJP will head the panel on Finance while Shashi Tharoor of Congress will chair the committee on External Affairs. Former Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh will be the chairperson of the Defence panel and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal will head the Department related standing Committee on Home.
NCP MP Sunil Tatkare will be heading the panel on Petroleum and Natural Gas and Shrirang Appa Barne of Shiv Sena will chair the committee on Energy. Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi will head the committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing and Saptagiri Ulaka of Congress has been made chairperson of the committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. Sanjay Jha of JD (U) will head the committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture and Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy of TDP will chair the committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.
Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur will chair the committee on Coal, Mines and Steel and another former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy have been given the chairmanship of Committee on Water Resources. Nishikant Dubey of BJP has been made chairman of the committee on Communications and Information Technology. Tiruchi Siva of DMK will chair the committee on Industry and his party colleague Kanimozhi will chair the committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. BJP MP C M Ramesh will head the committee on Railways and TMC MP Kirti Azad will head the committee on Chemical and Fertilizers.
Bhubaneswar Kalita of BJP will chair the committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav will head the committee on Health and Family Welfare. Brij Lal of BJP will chair the committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice. Congress MP Digvijay Singh will head the committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports and Dola Sen of TMC will chair the committee on Commerce.
