In a development for Tripura’s air connectivity, a direct flight service between Agartala and Hyderabad was inaugurated on Monday. Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu launched the service in a ceremony at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala, where he personally handed over the first boarding pass to a passenger. The Governor himself travelled on the inaugural flight to Hyderabad.

Expressing his gratitude to IndiGo Airlines, Governor Nallu emphasized the benefits this new service would offer to the people of Tripura and neighboring Bangladesh, especially for those traveling to South India for medical treatment. He highlighted that Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport is the second busiest in the Northeastern region, underscoring the growing need for enhanced air connectivity.

The Governor also praised the central government’s UDAN scheme for improving regional air travel, which has made flying more accessible to the public. He expressed optimism about future plans for launching international flight services from Agartala.

The event was attended by senior officials, including K.C. Meena, Director of Agartala Airport, and representatives from IndiGo Airlines.
