Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced a financial assistance worth over Rs 242.55 crores for relief and development in Gandatwisa sub-division under Dhalai District on Sunday.

Dr. Saha visited various locations in the Gandatwisa sub-division and met with the victims and family members of the deceased, Parameswar Reang.

Addressing a press conference, Dr. Saha mentioned that an unfortunate incident occurred on July 7 during an Ananda Mela, where Parameswar Reang was injured and later died during treatment at GB Pant hospital on July 12.

“When his body was brought to Gandatwisa, several houses were attacked following a protest, and people sought shelter in government-arranged relief camps,” said Dr. Saha.

Dr. Saha, along with Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, DGP (Int) Anurag, Home Secretary Pradip Chakraborty, and other officials, including Dhalai District Magistrate Saju Vaheed and SP Avinash Rai , visited Gandatwisa.

“I visited many areas and spoke with victims, and also with the deceased’s parents and family members. This is a truly sad incident. Upon hearing about it, I, along with the civil and police administration, took steps and monitored the situation. I also visited the relief camps. We have already provided assistance to the victims and the deceased’s family,” said Dr. Saha.

He added that the state government had taken further steps.

The Chief Minister said, The Chief Minister visited the deceased’s home, Narayanpur market, 30 Card relief camp and other affected areas.

The State Government has already announced assistance for the deceased’s family and other affected families. A decision has been taken to strengthen the security measures, he said, adding that a plan is under consideration to set up a permanent security camp near 33 card.

At MR Das Para and Ramnagar, where security camps already exist, the security would be strengthened further.

While announcing additional relief, the Chief Minister said, the deceased’s would be given total Rs. 10 lakh. Previously, Rs. 6 lakh was given by the state government.

In case of the affected families, additional relief would be provided. For 101 fully damaged houses, an amount of Rs. 95,000 has already been given. Now, additional Rs. 2.05  lakh would be provided (total Rs. 3 lakh/ per family).

In case of 13 severely affected houses, the government already provided Rs. 50,000 and now additional Rs. 1 lakh would be provided (Total Rs. 1.50 lakh).

For 31 partly damaged houses, the additional relief would be given in various categories based on the assessment of damages.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, the state government already disbursed Rs. 1,14,80,000 to the affected families. Now, additional relief of Rs. 2,30,40,000 would be provided.

The Chief Minister said, action would be taken against those involved in hatching conspiracy and creating such situation. He also appealed to all for maintaining unity and peace in the area.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister in a press conference announced several other development plans worth Rs. 239.10 crore for Gandacherra.

The plans included 1 7 development projects- Rs . 1 crore for 30 market stalls in Narayanpur Market,  Rs. 1 crore for maintenance and up gradation of Dasaram Choudhury Para Super Market, Rs . 10  crore. for the comprehensive development of Gondatwisa market consisting of internal road, street light, drain , paved blocks etc, Rs . 1 50 crore for development of 51 KM long Amabassa – Gondatwisa Road; Rs . 1 9 . 20 crore for construction of new building and retrofitting works of existing building of Gondatwisa Sub Divisional Hospital, Rs . 12 crore for development 9 km long Hathimara – Dalpati Road, Rs . 8  crore for development of 5 km long Ranjitpara – Buddhijoy Para road under Raisyabari, Rs . 7.5 crore for improvement of 3 KM long road to Jamatiapara from Amabassa – Gondatwisa Road under Dumuburnagar, Rs . 6  crore for synthetic turf in the football ground of Gondatwisa Class XII School,Rs . 5 crore for improvement of Fishery in Dumboor, Rs . 5 crore for setting up of integrated 50 bedded Rehabilitation center for Drug addicts at Gondatwisa.

In the Press Conference  the Chief Minister also announced sanction Rs . 5 crore for setting up of smart class rooms, furniture procurement and other infrastructure creation i n Schools of Gondatwisa, Rs . 3 crore for solar power, Micro cold storage ( 1 5 MT) for Mango growers of Raisyabari, Rs . 3  crore for cold storage and cold Chamber vehicle for transportation of Fish to Agartala and other markets ; Rs . 2 crore for development of indoor Badminton Court at Gondatwisa, Rs . 1.30 crore for improvement of dilapidated buildings of 1 0 Anganwadi Centres and Rs. 10 lakh for setting up of CCTV Cameras in Gondatwisa market area with direct feed to the police.

H e announced that two new additional permanent security camps will be set up in 33 KV and 30 Card area in addition to the existing camp at M G Das Para and Ramnagar in Gondatwisa.
