Sri Lanka Women have won their maiden T20 Asia Cup, beating India by 8 wickets in the final at Dambulla on Sunday. Chasing the target of 166 set by India, hosts performed like winners led by the captain Chamari Athapaththu, Harshita Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari. After Athapaththu fell for 61 at the end of the 12th over, Harshita took over the reigns and hit a terrific half-century and along with Dilhari brought home the victory in the 19th over.

Earlier, Batting first after winning the toss, India scored 165 for 6 in 20 overs. A half-century from Smriti Mandhana and laudable cameos from Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh helped India put up a sizeable total.

Harshita Madavi was adjudged the Player of the Match, while Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu was awarded the Player of the Series.
