Lucknow/IBNS: In an analysis of the partys Lok Sabha poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)s state unit has submitted a detailed report to the top brass underscoring its significant drop in vote share by 8 percent across all regions of the most populous state of the country.

The report has cited paper leaks, hiring of contractual workers for government jobs and the state administrations high-handedness as the reason behind the BJPs poor performance in the state.

The state unit has also urged the top brass to take some decisive steps keeping the future elections in mind.

The analysis comes amid the rumour that there is an infighting in the state unit and the saffron camp is aiming for a rejig in organisation.

State BJP president Bhupendra Chaudhary has taken responsibility for the partys poor show and offered to step down during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Wednesday, NDTV quoting sources reported.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the PM at his residence to discuss the next move.

Over the past few days, key BJP leaders in Uttar Pradesh have flown into the national capital and are holding meetings with the party brass.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met BJP national president JP Nadda, fuelling the buzz over a big revamp.

According to reports, the Prime Minister discussed key organisation issues with the Uttar Pradesh BJP president.

The BJP, it is learnt, is keen on having an OBC leader as its state chief as it prepares to bounce back from the poll setback and prepare for the 2027 state polls.

The incumbent, Chaudhary, is a Jat leader from Moradabad and was given the role in 2022 to quell the resentment against the BJP within the community.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which were held from April to June, the BJP saw its tally of seats tumbling from its previous figure of 62 to 33.

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadavs Samajwadi Party won 37 seats and its ally Congress 6 in the state which sends 80 members to the Lok Sabha.

Days ago, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cited the BJPs overconfidence as one of the reasons behind the partys setback in the state in the Lok Sabha elections.

Yogi made the introspection while addressing the BJPs state executive meeting, which was attended by several including Nadda.

In 2024, the BJP managed to get the same vote percentage as in the previous elections, but vote- shifting and overconfidence hurt our expectations. The opposition, which had previously been on ventilator, has now got some oxygen, the Chief Minister said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
