While out in the city or town if you want to have a sip of tea from the road side tea stall, don’t get surprised if you are now given the tea in an earthen cup instead of the common paper cup. Using the earthen cup actually both you and the tea vendor are helping protect the environment. It’s a step forward to eco-friendly habits of the citizens.

While distributing earthen cups as a token among 300 tea vendors of in and around the city, at Sukanta Academy on Tuesday Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, the state government had taken special initiative to reduce the use of plastic and promote use of eco-friendly products.

“If the people increase the use of earthen cups  then, it would not only help the potters increase their income and give a shape to the vocal for local slogan but also help protect the environment,” the Chief Minister said.

Khadi Board chairman Rajib Bhattacharjee said the work to achieve the vision of Prime Minister Naarendra Modi’s slogan for plastic-free India is going on in the state also.
