Aspiring candidates for the post of Constable in the Tripura Police Department staged a demonstration in the capital on Monday, voicing serious concerns over the prolonged delay in the recruitment process. The candidates criticized the lack of communication from the authorities and demanded immediate action to expedite the process.

The agitation stems from the notification issued by the Tripura Police on September 10, 2021, to fill 1,000 vacant constable posts for both male and female candidates. The recruitment process faced initial delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which postponed the physical examinations until 2022.

In a positive step towards completing the recruitment, the written examination for the positions was conducted on January 28, 2024. However, six months have passed since the examination, and the candidates are still awaiting the announcement of the results.

One of the aspiring candidates expressed their frustration, stating, “Six months have passed since we appeared for the written examination, but there has been no official communication regarding the results. We are left in limbo, uncertain about our status.”

With a growing number of unemployed youths in Tripura, the prolonged delay in the recruitment process has intensified the candidates’ anxiety and dissatisfaction. The demonstrators gathered in front of the police headquarters and submitted a deputation to the Director General of Police, urging immediate action to declare the results and expedite the remaining recruitment procedures.
