On September 24, 2019 State government had launched Transformation of Aspirational Block Programme (TABP). Two years after 12 ‘aspirational blocs’ – which were once considered to be under developed -are now showing remarkable achievements in various fields as far as socio-economic indicators are concerned . Based on their performance the Blocs are also given ranking. The ranking is given based on data points in nine primary sectors — Health, Education, Agriculture and Horticulture, Fishery, ARDD, Rural Development including Panchayat, Drinking Water, Sanitation and Rural Electrification, Social Welfare and Nutrition and Information Technology.
Going by the delta ranking of the 12 Aspirational Blocks for the second quarter as announced by the state government Dumbumagar Block has secured the top position in providing drinking water and sanitation with a total score of 73.03 while Silachari Block has come first in IT and agriculture sectors with the scores of 88.94 and 34.92 respectively. Karbook Block has scored highest (71.61) in the education sector, Chawmanu Block has secured 88.79 and topped in health sector. Rupaichari Block has become topper in the activities under Rural Development, Animal Resource Sevelopment and Social Welfare and Social Education departments with the scores of 69.55, 31.38 and 73.33 respectively. The Raishyabari Block has scored highest 78.37 in the fishery activities.
The TABP is presently being implemented in 12 most aspirational blocks to improve quality of life. The initiative focuses on the strength of each block and identifies the attainable outcomes for immediate improvement while measuring the progress and ranking of the selected blocks.
Rural Development department is the nodal agency for implementation of the programme. However, other line departments and TTAADC are also participants in the process.
