Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, has reassured the public about the availability of fuel and essential commodities despite recent disruptions.
Speaking to the media on Thursday after inspecting three flour mills at Ushabazar, Kathaltali, and R.K. Nagar, Chowdhury emphasized that there is no need for panic as the state has ample stocks of fuel and Public Distribution System (PDS) items. The supply chain has been affected by waterlogging and landslides on the rail tracks at Badarpur.
However, Chowdhury clarified that there is no structural damage to the tracks. “Long queues are being seen at petrol pumps, but we have sufficient stocks of fuel and essential items. Restoration work is already underway, and we expect the train services to resume in 2-3 days,” he stated.
The minister’s visits to the flour mills were part of efforts to ensure the supply of quality food items to consumers.
During his visits, he inspected the food processing facilities to ensure standards are maintained.
