New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has requested the Supreme Court to extend his interim relief- expiring on June 2- by seven days in connection with the liquor policy case, media reports said.

Kejriwal, who heads Delhis ruling AAP, was granted the interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections, which will conclude with its seventh and last phase on June 1.

The AAP supremo has cited the need for some of his medical tests behind his seeking for an extension of the interim bail.

If not granted, Kejriwal will have to return to Delhis Tihar Jail on June 2.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in the Delhi liquor policy case from his official residence in Delhi.

The central investigative agency asserts that he played a central role in the scam and was directly implicated in soliciting kickbacks from liquor barons.

The Supreme Court said that Kejriwal would not be permitted to carry out his official responsibilities due to may have a cascading effect even if he is granted interim bail while in jail.

In his first public comments after leaving jail, Kejriwal had thanked all the judges of the top court.
