Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for an array of development projects totaling over Rs 8,500 crore in Tripura, as part of the government’s overarching vision to bolster infrastructure and stimulate socio-economic growth in the northeastern region of India. The ceremony, held from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, marked a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to uplift the northeastern states.

In Tripura, a series of critical projects were unveiled, demonstrating a concerted effort to enhance connectivity and address key developmental needs. Among the projects inaugurated was the Agartala Western Bypass, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving transportation efficiency in the state capital. Additionally, several road construction initiatives were launched, underscoring the government’s focus on enhancing the state’s road network for improved connectivity and accessibility.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Indian Oil Corporation’s new depot at Sekerkote, signaling a significant investment in the region’s energy infrastructure. Furthermore, the initiation of the construction of an Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for drug-addicted persons underscores the government’s commitment to addressing social challenges and promoting holistic well-being.

The inauguration of the Sabroom Land Port along the India-Bangladesh border represents a major milestone in regional trade and connectivity. With state-of-the-art facilities including a passenger terminal building, cargo administrative building, warehouse, fire station building, electrical substation, and pump house, the port is poised to facilitate seamless movement of passengers and cargo between the two nations. Its strategic location offers a more efficient trade route, significantly reducing travel distances to Bangladesh’s Chittagong port compared to distant ports in West Bengal.

During his address at the “Viksit Bharat, Viksit North East Program” in Itanagar, the Prime Minister reiterated his vision for the comprehensive development of the northeastern region, emphasizing the ‘Ashtalakshmi’ framework. Recognizing the region’s cultural, business, and tourism potential, Modi underscored the government’s commitment to fostering robust growth and leveraging the region’s unique strengths.

The launch of the UNNATI (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme), a Rs 10,000 crore initiative, represents a significant boost to industrial development in the northeastern states. The scheme aims to attract investments, promote the establishment of new manufacturing and service units, and generate employment opportunities, thereby stimulating economic growth and fostering prosperity across the region.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister dedicated projects valued at over Rs 41,000 crore, including the prestigious Sela Tunnel project and the Dibang Multipurpose Hydropower Project. These initiatives, encompassing road infrastructure, environmental conservation, and tourism development, are poised to catalyze socio-economic progress and create new avenues for growth and development in the state.

Beyond Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh, Modi’s initiatives extend to Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Sikkim, with projects worth billions of rupees inaugurated across these states. These projects encompass a wide range of sectors including transportation, healthcare, education, and telecommunications, reflecting the government’s comprehensive approach to regional development.

In conclusion, the inauguration and foundation stone laying of these transformative projects underscore the government’s steadfast commitment to advancing infrastructure, fostering industrialization, and enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the northeastern states. By promoting inclusive growth and leveraging the region’s potential, these initiatives pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for the people of the northeastern region of India.
