Indian-origin politician Ritesh Tandon on Sunday claimed six Hindu temples were vandalised in the US state of California in the past two weeks.
Tandon is also a Democratic candidate who is running for election to the US House to represent Californias 17th Congressional District.
In the last two weeks, six Indian temples have been vandalized, five of which are in Wahab District. There has been no response from Senator Aisha Wahab @SenAishaWahab, @aishabbwahab , he posted on X.
He said Senator Aisha Wahab, a member of the California State Senate, did not respond to the attacks.
Tandon said: Today, we held a protest rally in front of Senator Wahabs office, seeking a meeting with her or her staff. Unfortunately, despite it being within office hours on a working day, the office was closed. This situation highlights the use of your tax dollars and suggests it might be time to consider a recall.
On January 19, Wahab, however, reacted to the vandalisation of temple and posted on X: The ongoing vandalism of Hindu temples across Bay Area must stop.
There is no room for such hatred in our communities, she said.
American politician Aisha Wahab has been a member of the California State Senate from the 10th district since 2022.
A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first Muslim elected to the California State Senate.
She is one of the first Afghan-Americans elected to public office, alongside New Hampshire state representative Safiya Wazir.
