Continuing its bullish trend, Indian benchmark equity indices ended the last week of Calendar Year 2023 with a gain of over one and a half percent. The market also hit fresh record high in this week amid positive global cues.
The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 1,133 points, or 1.6 per cent, during the week, to end at 72,240 yesterday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange jumped 382 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 21,731. In the broader market, the BSE mid-cap index gained 2.6 percent while the BSE small-cap Index rose 1.6 percent
During the 2023 calendar year, the Sensex gained nearly 19 percent and the Nifty around 20 percent. The Indian markets continued their rising streak for the eight straight year.a
