Even after retention, Gujarat Titans have traded their captain and star allrounder Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season of cash-rich domestic cricket tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL), media reports said.
Hardik has been traded at Rs. 15 crore, which was the cricketers remuneration, ESPN Cricinfo reports.
Additionally, Gujarat will have to pay a transfer fee to Mumbai. Gujarat will also have to pay half of the transfer fee to Hardik.
The trading occurred after the deadline for the franchise to announce the list of players retained or released crossed.
Hardik was in the squad of Gujarat even at deadline but later was traded.
Hardik, who is Team Indias vice-captain, won the titles for Mumbai four times.
In Gujarats inaugural season, Hardik, who was the captain, won the title in 2022. He went on to lead the franchise to the final in the 2023 edition, where they lost to MS Dhonis Chennai Super Kings.
Hardik is presently recovering from his injury which he suffered during the Cricket World Cup 2023.
Along with the Team India vice-captain, Gujarat have also traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore increasing their purse for the auction which is scheduled to be held on December 19.
