Tripura government has decided to appoint as many as 500 women police personnel in the state. This will be in addition to the 500 more policemen of which also about 10 per cent will be reserved for women.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, the recruitment of the police women in such a large number will enable the state police to function more efficiently and also to handle the crimes related women in a more effective way.
“This is for the first time such a big contingent of 500 exclusively women police personnel being appointed in the state. Besides, giving teeth to the police force it will also have a positive impact in our attempt for women empowerment”, the Chief Minister said.
