The 4th Hornbill Festival was inaugurated by Chief Whip of Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy at Hathai Kotor Eco Park of Teliamura yesterday. The festival was organized with the initiative of the Forest department.

The Festivalwill is expected to draw tourists in the Eco Park.

After inaugurating the festival, she said, an amiable environment has been created among different communities at Hathai Kotor Eco Park through Hornbill Festival. She said, this festival was started in 2020 to conserve the Hornbill bird species. The initiative has been taken to generate awareness among people. She said, the present government is working to develop tourism industry in Tripura besides infrastructural development. At present, national and international tourists are visiting different tourist spots of the state. The present government has brought forward the natural and archeological beauty of Tripura to people.

Principal Secretary of Forest department K. S. Sethi and DFO of Gomati district Niraj Kumar Chanchal also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by SPCF and CWLW Praveen Agarwal.

The programme was presided over by Sabhadhipati of Khowai Zilla Parishad Joydeb Debbarma. Other dignitaries present in the inaugural programme were Sahakari Sabhadhipati of Khowai Zilla Parishad Hari Sankar Pal, member of Khowai Zilla Parishad Ranjit Sarkar and Teliamura BAC Chairman V. Hrangkhawl. Vote of Thanks was delivered by DFO of Khowai district Akshay B. Vorda. Winners of Sit and Draw competition, football, Hockey Khelo and essay writing competition were awarded in the programme. 54 Self-Help Groups were provided with loans.
