The stage is set for the nation’s prestigious 42nd IndianOil SERVO Surjit Hockey Tournament scheduled to begin at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, tomorrow. The tournament will be played under floodlights on league-cum-knockout basis.
Indian Hockey Team Captain Olympian Harmanpreet Singh, Vice-Captain Olympian Hardik Singh, Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh and many more present and former hockey players are participating in these 10 days long hockey bonanza.
The participating 12 teams including last year’s champion IndianOil Mumbai and the Indian Navy Mumbai & RCF Kapurthala have been divided into 4 pools. The top 2 teams of each pool will qualify for quarter finals. The semifinals & final of the tournament will be held on 31st October and 1st November, respectively. All India Radio, Jalandhar will relay the running commentary of the final match.
The opening matches tomorrow would be played between Army-XI Delhi and CRPF Delhi followed by Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi Vs. Punjab Police.
